Preloaded pnumatic cartridge?

I was looking into making a cannon with the combustion cartridge idea, to use as an artillery gun for milsim Airsoft events, but most Fields have a 'no pyro' rule. Id like to do it with a pnumatic cannon. Problem is I know about as much about pnumatic cannons as I do about nuclear physics. Anyone know if its possible to do this idea, and if so, and thoughts on how to do it?

Thank you jsk, but I know I can figure out and research the pnumatic info I need. But im limited to the features that work on my phone since I dont have a smart phone. (Turns out you need to be smarter than the equipment you use.) For example, the spellcheck button doesnt work on my phone. Before I wait in line for an hour to get on a computer at the library, I want to know if the idea is doable, and cost efficient. You dont need to give me a link if ya dont want. But an idea of what thread title to look for is nice, if the topic has been covered. Sorry for my needyness. If your sick of me just ignore me. Lol

Granted you have limited facilities, but there is a topic whose title is almost identical to yours (only it's spelt correctlyan idea of what thread title to look for is nice, if the topic has been covered

*insert look of shame* my bad. Thanks jsk. Guess all the original ideas have been previously discussed.

It's very difficult to be original, but not impossible. Also, I would guess less than 20% of the concepts discussed actually get built, so you can still be a pioneer if you flesh out something that was only previously theoreticalKS-collector wrote:Guess all the original ideas have been previously discussed.

True. The project is usually harder than the plan. Not to mention metal construction. Dont think id trust pvc to high pressures. And id like to make it capable of very high pressure to give me plenty of room for adjustment.

For milsim, you don't need high pressures, especially if you're making a nice big artillery sized cartridge. What you need for cartridges is a way to make a reasonable quantity of effective cartridges quickly and cheaply, unfortunately this maxim usually applies:KS-collector wrote:True. Throwing an idea out there...

Use a toolies valve (search) as the "cartridge" component.

Lol. I would have to go with good and cheap. But ill need about 250 fps. Maybe a little less. Ill design it for a 3-4 inch diameter ball. If its too weak with the appropriately sized shell, I can keep the shell, change the heads to a smaller diameter, add an inner barrel and use the smaller 1.5 inch footballs. Or so I hope. Lol. Idealy id like to be able to use the cartridges on other guns, like if I pick up a gokart and make a tank for less realistic events. But the valve is gonna be the main problem. Not sure if I should use a sprinkler valve with electric actuater, or ball valve of some type with manual release. The latter would involve some type of flat handle on the outside of the shell, sliding into a grove hooked to the lever outside the chamber cover. Which would be cheaper I wonder. Looks like a trip to the store after work.

JSK, your a gentleman and a saint! Your links always point me where I wanna go. Thats exactly the type of operation I want to use these shells at. Im attending that exact one next year with my team. So in your opinion, what type of valve do you think would work best? Im thinking sprinkler valve, but still debating.

A sprinkler valve on every cartridge is a bit much, assuming you still want cartridges. Tons of other options if you use your imagination.KS-collector wrote:what type of valve do you think would work best? Im thinking sprinkler valve, but still debating.
