Pneumatic, combustion, or hybrid? I just built a pneumatic cannon and when I pump it up to about 120 PSI it goes a good 110-115 yards. Whats the best in your experience?

Is there any plans anywhere on this sight for hybrid cannons? I would LOVE to build one.

Bellabob, a hybrid can reach up to 6 miles or something, I doubt you have that much space. One way to better answer your question, how far are you willing to shoot?

Exactly as SB15 says.

Though, for a given bore and projectile, the obvious answer is of course, the most powerful one. Hybrids tend to give rather higher energy densities than combustions or pneumatics, but that doesn't mean pneumatic X can't beat hybrid Y. All depends on the specifications on the specific launchers in question.
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Are you two mental? The longest shot from ANY homemade cannon was pneumatic, but it was only 4800 feet, and it was in Punkin chunkin. And Warhead 6 miles? NO! 6 miles is over 31,000 feet! WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? lol AND Gun freak, He wants raw power, please don't dilute him with your backwards, one-sided pneumatic beliefs! (even though I prefer pneumatic also.. lol) Not flaming you guys, just stating facts.

Ok, scratch the first question. Now I need help.

I build a 6ft 3" cannon out of PVC than can withstand about 280 PSI. It's made out of the 2 inch diameter PVC. There is a valve in the middle with two 3ft pieces coming out of each end. One end is open (for the projectile) and one end is shut. I have an old bike valve sticking out about an inch from the closed end, thats where I pump the air in.

Now, for the problem. The valve (not the one in the middle, the one where I pump the air in) just burst. The actual valve tore off from the rubber (but not all the way) so it's basically usless. I PVC cemented it back in (PVC cement was holding it in in the first place) and now I'm waiting for it to dry. But I noticed (before it burst) that the cement around the valve was starting to crack. Is there anything (besides the PVC cement) to hold it in more effectively? Maybe JB Weld? I do not want to build a new one right now (not pneumatic anyway).

HOLY BALLSACK! ARE YOU KIDDING? 280 PSI? ARE YOU NUTS? NEVER EVER USE MORE THAN 150 PSI!! IT WILL KILL YOU!! scrap the cannon, and start over, it is a HUGE safety hazard!

The PVC is rated to hold 280 PSI. I would never pump even close to that much pressure.

Evan... A hybrid could shoot 6 miles, given it is huge and firing an aerodynamic dart. I'm pretty sure a fire arm can shoot that far, so a properly made hybrid and projectile could too...

Punkin Chunkin cannons are far from ideal when it comes to distance, they use slow valves, and fragile projectiles that have certainly not been built for flight. A mile shouldnt be all that uncommon with a decent hybrid, but when you use a larger gun firing projectiles specifically designed for flight, 6 miles could probably be achieved
