Hello,
Out of a strange turn of events I have my hands on an unregulated paintball tank and a 3000/4500psi air compressor. I was wishing to create a 0>500(?) psi cannon out of this as I think 4500psi would be a very bad Idea (you tell me). My problem is I do not know the size of the threads on the paintball tank accurately and I was wondering if anyone knew, and any places I can get some pipes to fit the size. Also, can someone give me some ideas of what I can do to utilise this massive power?
(Oh and Hi, Im Miles)
Thanks.

Paintball tanks typically have an internal regulator to either 900 or 450 PSI. Attached to this is the fill nipple, which is a quick connect with check valve that leads to the tank before the regulator.

If your tank does not have a regulator, I suggest you simply buy a new tank, or install a regulator like this one and have the bottle re hydro-tested.

You then have a safer output pressure with standard ASA threads that can be adapted to "normal" 1/8" threads with any number of cheap adapters..

An inline regulatorwill let you adjust final pressure after all that.

Thanks for the help!
But just out of curiosity what is the paintball tank thread size, I wanted to see if I could find another way around it, with a ball valve or something.

The thread size for a paintball tank valve's outlet is CGA 320... ramses idea would be the best route.

If you're interested in regulating down your pressure, I have built a gun that operates at up to 700psi, is very compact, and tennis ball bore. It'd make an excellent grenade launcher for paintball
I love lamp

Can I ask what would happen If I were to launch something at 4500psi?

If you were to launch a paintball at that pressure, it would probably pop before it even left the barrel.

I was talking about a ball bearing, By paintball in the title I meant that I was using a paintball tank not that I am actually using paintballs.

Ah ok. Well a ball bearing would possibly break the sound barrier, depending on the weight and size of it.

Sounds fun, I have been looking around but I cannot find the sufficient tubing/piping anyway :/.

If you were fully prepared .... great and awesome things. 8)

If you were NOT fully prepared...tragic and possibly terminal things.

Yup, I attempted this once before, could not get the right equipment. I made a 'bomb squad' suit out of layers of clothing and some steel sheets just incase, was all rather crude.

Not to be a killjoy, but anything at 4500psi with volume behind it is quite capable of LITERALLY removing limbs/digits or even cutting you completely in two.

Far better to contain it properly or simply do something else than put false hope in something like you describe.

I suppose... Say, how much force is required to push a man off the ground?
Heh, that would end badly.

High pressure can get extremely rude if you aren't capable of containing and controlling it. Don't play with it if you're not capable.
