Morning all

Being the silly season things are quiet at work so the men of the tribe have decided to go paintballing at the local indoor range. Despite all our restrictive licencing regarding quasi firearms, PB is ok if you are all over 18 and not "a prohibited person".

Question: What is a sufficient quantity of ammo for a 90 minute skirmish? I know that is a how long is a piece of string question but I would appreciate any serious response from a PB regular. We are being quoted packages ranging from 200 rounds to 1000 rounds for various dollars.

TIA

it depends upon the playing grounds, type of game, type of player and a good amount of other variables. I've found with most of my friends that never played on a tournament level, 500-1000 is more than sufficient for a few games - such as 3 30minute rounds for a "best of 3" style game.

I can easily go through 2000+ playing a series of speed ball games in a day, but that's a completely different style of play where fast guns and fast play are the norm.

go for at least 500, if you can afford 1000 do it, and be a little more trigger happy  ...

If your sniping less rounds say 500. If your 1st in any blasting away at everything and anything, 1000 to 1500. If your pulling rescue duty 2000 easily.

My landlord's 3 sons grew up paintballing, thank god the paint balls wash off and are biodegradable!

It really depends on how you intend to play.

If you're going for "suppressing fire" and favour things like holding your marker up from behind cover and spraying random paintballs without looking, get as many as you can.

Personally I find it hard to use more than 50 balls per 15 minute skirmish, and not because I'm eliminated in the first 30 seconds ;P

Indeed.

I still consider the best game I ever played to be a game in which I never fired a shot.

My best ever was advancing even though I was out of ammo and convincing the last member of the opposing team to give up :)

Aggression wins.

For me it was using stealth to sneak through the lines, capture the flag from right under the other team's nose, and return it to my team's base.... without ever being seen.

Last game I went to, we had 1,000 PB's, ran out of them in 3 minutes, mostly because another player had a mg42.... So I would go for as many as possible.
