Yes, it does "grenade." It wouldn't under water pressure because using pressurized water in pipes is what they're meant for, not air.

OK don't believe me then, because do you really think that I'd keep little shards of PVC from over a year ago? And it's a basement that maybe I should call a "laundry room" because that's what it is basically. You might sue me for having a "basement" and breaking the law.

I have a question since I can't see the video, are there standard fittings on the pipe? How much pressure do the fittings hold?

SpudStuff, did you not read all that I typed?! I told you exactly why it grenades. Now shut up, because it does.

As I said before, hydrotests are safe because liquid compression in negligable, while gas pressurization results in a rapid and much bigger expansion of gas upon fracturing.

I think it is irresponsible of you to find one video of CPVC being tested with water and conclude that PVC doesn't grenade and many members concern for the safety of others is unfounded.

Thank you Clide. I was going to show them myself but didn't have the right fittings to go from a CO2 bottle to NPT right now.

PVC does grenade. I have had much, much experience. Sometimes only a couple of peices, But more often than not, too many to count. It causes serious wounds and felony charges.

I wish i could remeber where i saw the video that clide's pictures are from. It makes the stills look like nothing. I believe that the chamber was also wrapped in duct tape, which obviously had no effect, but i'm not 100 % sure.

As Don indicated, the pics are from a video posted on the web awhile ago. Unfortunately the site is no longer working and I couldn't find the video archived anywhere. There is a chance I have it archived on my home computer, but I am at university right now, so it would be a week or two before I even get a chance to look for it...if I remember.
