And all I did was listen to some illegal 4" strontium shells a few km away.

Didn't even drink.

Doomsday aside, hope you all got appropriately inebriated within or exactly at the limits set by your local government, and started the year with a massive bang, be that carnal pleasure or rapid and violent oxidation :D

Considering packaged beer costs significantly more than an arm and a leg in Australia*, it was the Poms + Swedes + Kiwis + bottles marked 37.5% that almost killed one of us off :D

As awesome as the hostel was, the girls on front desk were pretty uninterested in our well being. We come down saying a friend has chundered all over our room and they gave us cleaning equipment to clean it up and wanted to know after we were done how the room was.

We come down two hours later asking what should we do about a drunk person not responding and they said we can chuck him in a taxi or call the ambulance and incur a $500 fee; it was up to us. We decide to give him a bit longer and he finally started coming around.

Later on they never asked whether or not he actually survived or if we just rolled him up in a rug and threw the body off the roof in to the alley below.

*6pk Corona = $26AUD. 24pk Hahn (cheap Aussie beer) = $55AUD. Couldn't find 12pks anywhere and selection was pretty limited. Tap beer was fine as a pint could be had for about $6.50 and a jug for $12 (unless it was $7.50 jug night at the hostel bar, haha). Expensive for you Europeans but the price for pints and jugs is similar in NZ, bottled beer is a hell of a lot cheaper though.

My sibling worked nights as a doctor in emergency in the UK, she had some interesting stories about people brought in because they were passed out drunk. In the vast majority of cases they were just that - passed out drunk! It didn't seem to register that this is the effect of drinking too much alcohol and the "cure" is to replace fluids and simply sleep it off. Most youngsters seemed to automatically assume that drinks had been spiked etc. it's quite sad really.

Also, I love the word "chundered".

It reminded me of this joke:
Three women had a very late night drinking. They left in the early morning hours and went home their separate ways. The next day, they all met and compared notes about who was drunker the night before.

The first girl claims that she was the drunkest saying, " I drove straight
home and walked into the house. As soon as I got through the door, I blew chunks all over the corridor."

The second said, "You think that was drunk? Hell, I got into my car and
wrapped my car around the first tree I saw. I don't even have
insurance!".

The third proclaimed, "Bollocks, I was the drunkest by far. When I got
home, I got into a big fight with my husband, knocked a candle over, and burned the whole house down!".

The room was silent for a moment. Then, the first girl spoke out again:

"You don't understand, Chunks is our dog..."

Interesting. The three of us looking after him had all been in a similar state at one point or another in our lives but we had all responded to people looking after us and could be woken up, I guess we were trying to err on the side of caution this time (doesn't help that we were a little car parked ourselves) :D

But yeah, he would've been one of those that could have just slept it off. He got drunk the following night too; a little annoying for those of us who stayed up to 3am, cleaned the chunder from the carpet and our belongings and dragged him half naked covered in vomit to the shower. We had some revenge while he was coma'd though... it's a shame the photos are a bit too R rated for Facebook

My favourite was heard from an Aussie friend, "fishmuzzled" :D

There are also various exclamations in the local Epoxyland dialect which translate roughly as "square root in relation to god", ah bless.

Not buying Carlton Draught and saving $15 a slab, and it's damn good beer.

Also, we don't have 12 packs, and Corona is shit tier piss water. Better off heading down to the local lab supply and buying some denatured ethanol. Taste better anyway.
