The great thing about youtube is that it reaches everyone with internet access. Unfortunately that includes the 50% of the population with a below average IQ.
On a statistical distribution. without eliminating the outliers, the weighting of mental health subjects and a few geniuses, places over 50% of the population above 50% intelligence. The outliers drag the center of the curve down so most "normal functional" people are above 50%, not evenly distributed on it. If you remove the mentally ill from the curve then the few geniuses place Joe sixpack below the median.

The drug culture is a heavy weight on the median.

MrCrowley wrote:Have you emailed the video around to people like John Carmack? The video is one that could easily be emailed around between people of all sorts of different engineering/physics/chemistry based professions as all the relevant information is provided and it is entertaining enough for some guy at Boeing to email his friend at NASA asking when they're going to start strapping cannons like this to their rockets
And THAT is precisely why we made it a public video. I figured I needed to get enough technical information in the video to make the sales pitch but keep it entertaining enough to be sent around in email by those who just like watching explosions (ie, college students and the like).

My only regret is that the last screen doesn't have my email address. The original cut did, but security nixed that.
I have no idea about the inner-workings of trying to market things like this and what goes on behind the scenes and I assume the company you work for has some marketing strategy in place for VERA but I just thought I would ask any way.
Marketing? What's this marketing stuff you speak of? Seriously, I'm in an industry where there are so few players everybody pretty much knows who everybody else is and who does what. As such, marketing is almost unheard of in the traditional sense of the word. The customers come to us.

But VERA represents something new. I felt marketing is called for and nobody disagrees, but lacking a marketing budget... Well, I'm doing what *I* can do.

You might want to try running this by slashdot, wired, and a few of the other tech news sites. I remember a bowling ball cannon that wasn't nearly as impressive making its rounds of the internet through such sites. People do like to read this stuff even if it is rather obscure and specific. In the case of slashdot you could also mention the simulation side of the stuff you did, just don't mention you wrote H/GGDT in basic :)
