Want to make an air compressor

Ok so since my air compressor broke I want to build an air compressor as cheap as possible. I have one 8 gallon tank from my compressor and I have one 10 gallon air tank . I also have a snow blower engine also. How should I make my compressor? Should I find an old refrigerator and use the compressor from that? How would I mount it on the tank? Is there a thread on this already? Thanks in advance

For low pressure you could pick up a compressor cylinder and set of pulleys from harbor freight and use the snow blower engine. Or find a whole compressor at a yard sale for probably the same price. Or ask us to diagnose what happened to your old compressor and see if it's fixable.

On the old compressor the engine gave out I can spend 60$ max my local cl doesn't have anything
i did use a old fridge compressor and mixed and matched some fittings to attach it to my old compressord airtanks.
if you want to build pneumatic stuff surely you can figure out a way to connect a small hose to an airtanks...
hint hose adapters and clamps... just make sure you use good pressure rated stuff.

Beast, if its only the engine that gave out, attach your snow blower engine to it instead. Its not a hard fix... Just use common sense. Gonna have to continue my common sense rant on the off topic thread now...

Ok so I've seen fridge compressors go up to 400 psi or moremhowmdo I get one to go that high? I assume it just matters how powerfully the compressor is right? What fittings should I use to make a compressor fill a air tank up to 500 psi max

Some are stronger than others. Mine is a 1/20th HP and it has no trouble getting up to 400 psi. Pressurizing the input with a shop compressor helps. Compressors from large refrigerators are stronger, like 1/3 or 1/4 HP. That is the type you should look for. Basically you need to attach a high pressure hose, like braided SS, to the output and figure out the wiring.
