True - it would obviously fly slower but the extreme sectional density should more than make up for it.

I'm fascinated by the marks around the entry hole. It can't be fin fragments, delrin wouldn't make that sort of impression on steel. My theory is that fragments from the back of the rod break off on impact and are thrown by their forward momentum into the front face of the plate. If you could find one after firing, we can confirm it
given the mark of the second layer profile, she looks intact thy rod.
