Guys, I see that many guns are made with sprinkler valves, but also as many with custom piston valves. Now which one is the best ? Or are sprinklers very good but expensive and custom piston valves bether, but hard to make or what ?
Why dou you guys use what you use ?

piston valves are better then a sprinkler valve in everyway performance wise, and are relativly cheap.pistons are way cooler as well and a 1" piston has like 2x the flow of a 1" sprinkler valve, or something like that.

indeed MrCrowley, from Belgium to be right. I did found some in the Netherlands though, got a link to a site from BTB. But since pistons are bether, I will go for the pistons.
Maybe in the futur, when i need a electric trigered valve, i'll buy one, but right now I have an idea how I could use some pyrotechnics to trigger a piston valve, so I guess I'll never need a sprinkler valve.

People always talk about the HUGE increase in performance that they get when they go from ball valve to sprinkler valve. I have made this jump, and I think the jump from sprinkler valves to piston valves is just as large! Not only do piston valves kick the crap out of sprinkler valves, they look better, are cheaper (than a similiarly sized sprinkler valve), sound much more badass, and just are sick!
Conclusion: build one. Start small; you don't want to have to throw away expensive parts for a 3" porting piston valve; throwing away 1" parts, meh

Seems to me that the design of a sprinkler valve automaticaly cuts things in half by design alone. All i need to finish my 1st piston valve is a spring then glue it together. It's a 2", i hope you all seen it, i'm very proud of my self yes i am!
I finaly found a store arond here that sells pressure PVC pipes. I compared the price for a over-under and a coaxial spud gun. The coaxial came out 20 % cheaper (both with 4 changable barrels and pistonvalves) Prices were 100 and 80 euro for the PVC-parts alone, valve, glue, primer and trigger not included. Thats a whole lot of money for a first gun, considdering that I dont have experience in building this types of gun.
Now, when i compare to copper prices, they are realy much cheaper, even with the high metal prices now a days. Ok, the gun wont be that big, but who cares. The first ammo I wanne use are marbles or nailed darts (i go for destruction on long distance
) Later on I will try to make my rocket design as ammo.
I desided I will build a pneumatic piston gun, combination of a coaxial and a over-under, ising the lower chamber as a stock.
