Homeade Gasket failure

I recevied a 1 1/2 pneumatic relief valve from ebay a while ago and go screwed on it, its been sitting forever and decided to attempt to make a gasket for it,

i put in a rubber sheet, screwed it back together and it popped,

anybody have an idea how to make it stronger?
my dad suggested put a piece of aluminum in between the sheets,

i think that will blow out as well?

or maybe get a thicker sheet,

look at the middle one, , that little plastic piece my valve didnt come with it,, im trying to figure out something very strong to seat correctly and seal

look at his pics i have the same valve, where the rubber seats its only about 1/4 of an inch.

just as i went to pressure it up, it popped, so i need to figure out what to do next,,, someway make the rubber stronger, so it doesnt pop at 100 psi

To stop anyone else wasting their time saying something I've already said to jsefcik, here's two relevant PMs I've sent to him:

You could epoxy multiple layers together. It really depends where it needs strengthening. Your dad's suggestion isn't a bad one, I've seen many valve diaphragms that are supported by an aluminium (or other metal) gasket in the centre where it seals against the seat.

The rubber needs to be flexible in certain areas I would think, so that pretty much means the centre area that flexes down and seals the valve needs to be able to do this with ease. If you double the rubber over the entire diaphragm, this may cause problems if the centre can't flex enough. However, if you only double the rubber thickness in the centre part that flexes, or reinforce it with a washer, it might solve your problems.

Again, though, I can't really be sure because I'm not sure what the internals look like, where it's leaking, what rubber you're using, etc.

Ok I don't know what you mean by it popping instead of leaking. Did you copy the design of the original diaphragm and check for equalisation holes?

I've suggested at least one way and recommended looking in to your dad's suggestion. If these aren't suitable fixes, you need to tell us why so we can actually move on with fixing this problem. You've asked me some questions, I've answered them, and then you've asked everyone else the same questions. We're going to be going around in circles unless you help us out.

The diaphragm is Buna Nitrile/Nylon PA6. Kit number K4502.

i had enough, i got thicker rubber and it still didnt work, im gonna wait till i have the cash and buy the right off ebay

Your a piece of work... The seller refunded your money and let you keep the valve so how did you get "screwed" on it??? Also I seriously dont know how you could screw this up... all you have to do is copy the gasket you have, use your imagination a little and add a thing or two...You have more stories than the bible and lie more than most politicians.... and after like 6 months you still dont know the proper name for the valve in question... dink
