He lets them roll over a small piece of steel plate, and then they drop in the container. The surface tension will take care of the shape.

Exactly my point, I can image the surface tension keep the lead round so dropping it on the steel plate would just make things worse no? I can understand if it drops directly into the liquid...

there are more videos within this method of making bb. Other one made 2-3 holes in a metal plate and let the bb fall down into a bucket of water from few cm . without rolling on anything.....
the bb looks to be 2-3 mm. I wonder if 6 mm bb may be done......

I guess the small bb may be perfect. If you play around with electronics and use the "electric pen" to melt that special alloy used to "glue" electronic parts....you must of noticed that sometimes the alloy shape itself into a perfect bb...
