Hi im new to this and i was wondering about if a fan would work well for me. i have a simple combustion cannon with an electric BBQ starter fuled by walmart hairspray and was wondering
1) what does a fan help do?
2) should i have one?
3) were can i get one?
4) how much will a small one cost?
Note: the duct tape is only a fassion statment, it is in fact held together with glue!

if there is anything else i should do with it tell me cuz i have no idea, it use to be set off with matches so even the BBQ lighter is a huge step in technology for me. if you have any comments about it (please give negative comments i need the criticism) anything i can do to it short of throwing it out would be most exelent!!!
Fan? yes or no? other stuff perhaps?

a fan helps vent the exaust gas after firing, thus makes loading faster, also mixes fuel for u, so it fires more often. a computer store should sell them for a cheap price.

1) Mixes fuel, and exausts combustion results. A more even fuel-air mix gives better combustion, and therefore, more power. Having it to exaust combustion results is mainly conveinence.
2)
if (Preformance_increase >= Pocketbook_drain)
buy_fan();
3) Any decent computer store should have them. Just ask for a "case fan", they will ask what size you want - respond 'No particular size'.
4) It'll probably cost you 10-15$.

No, it couldn't. Computer fans are brushless - there are no sparks, unlike a normal (brushed) motor. And people have tried ignighting mixtures with a brushed motor, and failed.

I succesfully ignited right guard using a brushed fan with a higher voltage
and exposed moter it was in a gun for a freind to shoot antennas for a ham radio and it dosent used a igniter.

I got my fan for free. It came out of an old power supply, one for an old P1 system.
There are a few different things you could do besides a single 9volt, which would be kinda slow. You could wire up 6 AAs in series for longer life (or more for more voltage=faster mixing/venting), or 2 9volts with a 15volt voltage regulator. Or even more cool is a fan controller like I built. They have the plans on burntlatke.com if you are interested. If you feel like building the simpler version without relays, send me an email or something and I will draw up the plans for ya. This is probably beyond the ability of a novice though.
Or, maybe I would be willing to make the whole fan controller for you and ship it since I have all the parts and some experience.
