Yeah if you want to risk it exploding. It is much safer just to stick with and solid core pipe.

Just FYI... I have a cell-core ABS gun with metered propane injection and camera flash ignition. It's seen well over 500 shots (many in cold weather) with no signs of wear.
If ABS fails, it rips clean down the side (lengthwise) of the chamber. It doesn't shrapnel, it just tears open. This is why I'm comfortable using any kind of ABS for combustion guns. If it does fail, it'll just ruin the gun, and 99% chance it won't hurt me.
Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Don't say it won't explode if properly used because it still could.

finally someone with some common sense. I agree with Steve all the way
ABS does not shatter like PVC, Pete said it all in this post /\/\Pete Zaria wrote:Just FYI... I have a cell-core ABS gun with metered propane injection and camera flash ignition. It's seen well over 500 shots (many in cold weather) with no signs of wear.

I dont normally use ABS because it is frowned upon, especially for compressed air, but it works fine for propane combustion guns. Just make sure any threaded fitting is drilled/tapped/screwed through two layers. (EX: fitting over pipe)
I have also noticed that ABS pipe to fitting bonds are somewhat stronger than PVC bonds. Ive never seen an ABS cannon using DWV fittings blow off like PVC ones do. Maybe because there is a bigger variety of PVC cement/solvent available, maybe it is because more people use pvc so the likelyness of PVC failure is more common. I would like to see some controlled test results to really determine which is better for cannon construction.

Thanks King Tater. I don't care if you guys use cell core abs or regular abs but don't go telling other people to. It could work but there is defenetly a higher risk of going with any abs and it failing than using Pressure rated pvc. And I quote from Spud Wiki "Under no circumstances WHAT SO EVER should you use cell-core or unsleeved thinwall PVC pipe"
Edit nicholai I just saw your post. They were talking about abs cell core not just regular abs.

Ahahah.
That's so f--king lame. I'm not being stupid, I'm just not paranoid. I am being safe, as I don't stand near the gun when it is being fired, and I also consider a potato gun as a loaded firearm at all time.
Point being : you guys can use solid abs if you want, but I have no problem using cell-core ABS and will keep using it on Combustion cannons ONLY.
