No I’m not making fun of his gun.
As for what I think of my Gamo, it’s okay, I guess, I’d much rather have a Benji, but my Gamo shoots good, as long as I do my part I can hit a Coke can at over thirty yards, a propane cylinder at more the fifty, and a 8X8 piece of sheet metal at over 70 yards. So all in all it’s a good gun.

hey there all!! thanks for all the feed back, i've created a back-stop for the pellets today, made of a wooden fruit plate, 6 layers of cardboard, and a thin plastic layer...
here are the pics:

I've tested it with my mini pneumatic, at 20 bars. it went through...
But i guess the 10 joules rifle wont be that powerfull...that's bad!!! i want it powerfull!!!!!!!!! i should have it tomorow...we will see...i think i'll have it on wednesday.

If that thing’s really only doing 150fps it’s not going through your backstop, at that velocity it’ll just bounce off, heck at when my 1008 gets low on gas it’ll bounce off, it’s “factory suggested velocity” is like 400 something FPS but when it’s low I’d guess it’s doing around the 150 to 200 mark...
Man France sucks, no offence but, (quick question how many foot pounds is 10 joules?) that’s stiff laws.
Ignore my useless and somewhat insinuative rant if you’re from France.
What the heck happen to France? It used to be a great nation, back during and before the renaissance, they were excellent swords men, with a high sense of honor and duty, they made incredibly strong armor, some of which could stop a pistol ball at 5 paces or less, even as late as WWII they had the incredible Maginot Line! But ever since the Nazi invaded France in WWII they’ve been weak, spineless cowards hiding from the Terrorists and letting them do as they please! They’ve got very strict gun laws, there scared of guns! Just like all those dang liberals we got trying to take away are constructional rights! Sorry got off topic there, but I just had to get that off my chest.
Edit:
I type to slow, mised the post, it's doing 660fps...get a China gun...

ok. Let's put the points right now...All you're seeing from france is the rennaisance period, which was a period of pure barbarism, murder, religional crime. Now, when I see crimes in america, caused by people who could have access to weapons the moment they were 16, i don't find the French laws too strict.
France is a great nation. Your nation, has had only liberalism, whereas our nation has had 20 years of socialism, which has dove France in a climat of fear of terrorism. Our country is on its way to a new governent, lead by serious people who love France and will do the necessary to stop some fools from imposing their law.
Now, if you still want to say that france was a good nation for it's weapons during the war, then go to a hospital and check some real bullet wounds.
I don't know how old you are, but you'd better read some books before saying such dumb things. And BTW, yes i'm french.
I think you're ignorant and straight-minded. If you think what's on the newspaper, then you're wrong again. There are some people here in france who believe in men's right. Terrorism is an aberation of human's belief in religion. have buddhists attacked countries? no. So don't think France is a land of cowards, a lot of french are cowards, but i'm the side of those who aren't.
I don't agree with Mr. G.Bush's political opinion regarding the war.
Know you'll excuse me for my poor political english, it's not the current type of conversation i have in english.
To come back to our topic, 10 joules represents 7.37 foot-pounds.
The rifle doesn't deliver a pellet at 150 fps, but at 660 fps.

I think you misunderstood me, I was not saying that you’re a coward or any of you country men (maybe it as my fault for not typing clear). The renaissance period wasn’t barbaric, they defended their honor, they defended their kin and country, and they did it with guns they made, defended by nearly impenetrable armor made by the French armor smiths. You say they were barbaric, why? Why do you call them barbaric?
We are talking about two different times; I’m talking about the past, your talking about the present. Your complaining about me only getting my information from the paper, it sounds like you are doing the same. Both of are countries are great nations, both of them are full of great people, we both have are cowards, we both have are criminals. I apologize if I have offended you, I was not tying to. This sentence is rather confusing: “Now, if you still want to say that France was a good nation for its weapons during the war, then go to a hospital and check some real bullet wounds.” Are you saying you don’t like your own country? I’ve seen bullet wounds, I’ve been hunting, I’ve seen pictures, and I’ve seen documentaries. France has had great weapons, and it still has. Now then as for the WAR on Terror, as Bush puts it, I have only one thing to say: “those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves; and, under a just god, can not long retain it.” – Abraham Lincoln
Edit: just so I’ve made my self clear, France is great! During WWII the French Freedom Fighters were amazing! I’m not just looking at the renaissance period; I’ve looked at WWI, WWII, the dark ages, etc. I’ve been fallowing the evolution of firearms, and France has made some interesting contributions, you’ll forgive me for forgetting them at the moment as I’ve got a headache. And once again, I’m sorry if I have offended you.

Apologies accepted. I would like to excuse myself if i sounded agressive...
I don't agree with the WAR on terror as Bush puts it, just because these people didn't wan't our help. For muslim extremists, we diserve nothing but death for not following the same faith. Plus, a lot of American soldiers died for a cause that will last for a long time, so i don't think that sending more and more soldiers is the right method. I ain't pretending that I know the right method, but, i quite don't agree with the present one.
Voila. To come back on topic for the 1,2,3rd time,
i havent received it yet..it's getting harder and harder to wait!!!!!!!! you have to understand me: it's my first air rifle!!

I finally got it!!!!!!!! first thing: it's long. Second impression, it's pretty powerful, at least, it is powerful enough to shoot in my garden or at 30 meters. I've shot at 15 meters, i am more precise at this distance with the optic sights than with the scope.
It has obliterated my back-stop lol!! after two shots going completely through, the plastic back flew off. i can make a 2cm circle grouping for the moment. And it's -1°C outside so i was a little freezing.
I'm impressed with the recoil though, i my positionned the back in my shoulers, and it felt bad!!
I also know that i'll use earing protection next time, my left ear is ringing. (i'm left-handed. for the shooting and the writing.)
Here are some pics. sorry for the bad quality, i'll post some videos later.

this is the rifle in all it's glory. Very accurate if you can attenuate the recoil.
My preference goes with the pro-magnum .177 pellets. They have a very good penetration, they are accurate, and fully inserted in wood when i shoot at wood.
The rifle shoots at 204 m/s, so that's pretty quick, but not that much, which makes it easier and safier to shoot around the house.
I must say that for the moment i'm very satisfied with this gun. the scope is great, very clean, light.
Videos to come.

Recoil, what recoil? Obviously you’ve never shot a powder burner.
As for your grouping it’ll improve after you’ve put 500 to 1000 rounds through her, depending upon how much slime’s in it. Have you cleaned the barrel yet? They come with a dirty barrel, full of water displacement goop, when I first got mine the first patch through it came out almost black.
Try out some Gamo Rockets or Magnums, there heaver, meaning more accuracy and power at any range, the lighter pellets won’t be as accurate nor as powerful.
When your looking for pellets you may come across “PBA”(performance ballistic alloy) or “lead free” pellets, DO NOT use them, they can damage your gun, plus there very inaccurate. Although fun with magnum springers, as they break the sound barrier, PBA pellets are very rough on them.
Also to heavy a pellet can damage your gun too, for the 660fps I wouldn’t use much more, if even, 10grains; for the 1000fps one 10 to 12gains is the max.
I like the “stainless” scope, did it come with the gun or was that extra?
Why are your ears ringing? Wait is there a lot of smoke, and a loud crack? If so your gun’s “dieseling” and combusting the oil in the receiver, which would explain a lot, recoil, ears ringing, lack of accuracy. just so you know dieseling is bad, and combusting is very bad.. Post a video ASAP.

Lol, no, by recoil, i mean that i was not used to shoot springers. It doesn't diesel, nor combusts. there is a very very tiny amount of smoke, and the barrel is clean.
magnum pellets that i have are 9 grains.
I've fired my homemade black powder rifle. twice. and i won't do it again. the first time, i almost lost it, and my wrist became blue for two days. the second time, i had put a lot less powder, but it felt like a punch in the chest and a sound i don't want to hear again.
I think the dieseling and combusting effects are due to the vaporising of the grease in the receiver, and as the pressure increases very quickly, the temperature does so, and the oil ignites as in a diesel motor.
It's not very loud, i can fire it in my house without getting deaf. the sound comes from the impact of the piston. It's more a "PONG!!" than a "TAP!!"

Fire it in your house? Your not dry firing it, are you?
What kind of gun is your homemade powder burner? I’m guessing it’s a muzzleloader, but is a plains rifle, Kentucky long rifle, some form of military arm, or what? And what caliber is it, .50, .45, .32, .58, or something else? I’m guessing by “homemade” you mean a kit gun, if it is where’d you get the kit from? And how many grains of powder did you use for your two shots? If you ever get brave enough to shoot it again don’t exceed the caliber with grains of powder, i.e. .50cal 50grains, .45cal 45grains. Sorry for changing the subject, firearms, especially the older style guns, always interest me…
Anyway back to the Gamo, .9grains sounds good to me, you sound like you know a bit about springers, you said you were going to put the heaver spring in it before, are you still going to do so or are you happy with it’s performance as is? Putting the heaver spring in it will not improve accuracy, as a mater of fact it’ll make it harder for you to shoot accurately.
