Small world - i'm in SA too.

I'm using 8mm aluminum sleeved in 1/2" copper pipe. Works well. Keeps it strong on the outside but retaining the small bore.

The alu is a little less than 6mm internal tho - i am using 5mm bb's in about 5.7mm bore - couldn't get 5.5mm balls.

The alu came from local hardware store and is only about $12 for 1.8m...

Do not order McMaster's copper tubing, it doesn't fit 6mm BB's in it. I haven't tried aluminum, but I would assume the same thing. My guess is that you can just buy airsoft gun barrels that the nice electric guns use.
I wish I had a better signature...
