For those of you who play halo2, I've been trying to think of a simple loading mechanism that will burst-fire round ammunition (ie: bb's, marbles, golf balls... etc) similar to the operation of the Battle rifle. Specifically, I was thinking of using the Vogt pattern somehow.
I can't find it now to give proper credit, but I saw a golf-ball cannon on this site that fired 10 golfballs per discharge using a clip that was basically behind the barrel. (The barrel pipe had a loading hatch at the rear, and the air from the valve came up through a hole in the barrel, about a foot from the hatch. Thus the back of the barrel served as the magazine.)
Based on that, what would be a good way to dispense multiple round ammos from a hopper or mag into such a setup? I'd want to keep the mag sealed off during firing, but something like a ball valve would not be cooperative with rapid firing.
"Battle Rifle"
i believe DR made that gun.
a hammer valve with some funky return setup might work. not really sure tho. i would draw something up for you, but im involved in drawing my possible competition cannon.

There are rules, and then there are hundred dollar bills.
Ok, so it was DR's gun after all:

Dang, that thing is impressive. Hmm. Maybe I'll stick with a ball valve, doesn't look like gate valves come in that size.

I was looking for 3/8" or smaller. I couldn't find them on mc-master carr, and I'm pretty sure the local hardware and the not-so-local hardware don't have such a thing. A ball valve would probably work at least as well for my purposes anyway. What would be really spiffy is if I could rig up something that would work automatically on the air pressure, but I don't know if that's feasible. Something like a checkvalve for air and bb's.
