One of my big camp outs is coming soon and I run the pioneering joint, that means using ropes and lashing sticks to make stuff like tripod or even signal towers. Typically we make at least a one medium size catapult and a gateway (with fence). I’ve been trying t dream big ever since I started running the pioneering.

My 2 big goals are
1) a tower or multi floor structure, does anyone know some tricks to making towers currently I only have about 5 or 6 sturdy log that are only about 7-8 feet, but almost limitless amounts of long bamboo, we might not be able to dig holes for the supports
2) Arming the campsite yep the troop also runs the model camp site so its already neat and tidy and has a rope fence, I’m making a catapult why not make a few mini defenses, my main thing is mini defenses I need something easy to make so I can put a bunch around the camp some thing simple like a jumbo sling shot I can premake some stuff but then its gotta be easy to transport I thinking about making crude pin fire crossbow turrets similar to may pencil crossbow thingies http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5263& on a larger scale

When i was in the scouts, we used to make trebuchets (sp), entrance gates, even scaffolding. Assuming you know the differnt lashings, if you have the poles and the rope, anything is possible. pm me if you need any help with lashings....
