ignition coil driver circuit

I just finished my new ignition coil driver circuit. The coil is driven by a 555 timer and three 2N3055 NPN switching transistors. It produces a 3/4"-1" costant arc. It is so much fun to mess around with. I hament run it up to full power yet, cause I've only used it with a 12v DC step down transformer.

thanks. and about powerlabs... oh yeah! that was really cool. Powerlabs creates so many awe inspiring gadgets...Like there kick a$$ rail gun... Now THAT is something I would like to own...

why did you use three transistors wa one frying? the fairchild semiconductor FJP13009 is great for this kind of thing its a very durable transistor an FREE!

Okay, sorry, I wasn't thinking right. I used three transistors in parallel because a single 2N3055 transistor can't stand up to the voltage. 2N3055 transistors were the highest rated ones they had at Radioshack. And what do you mean they're free?

But how does that let you get them for free?

basically fairchild does mainly big buisness im talking millions of parts at a time so giving away a few as samples to "engineers" for "prototyping"
doesnt hurt
