automatic golf ball gun
Hello all,
I saw DR's golf ball automatic gun today, and I WANT TO MAKE ONE!!
I have a couple of quesitons however.
1. Can I use an ordinary 1" modified solenoid sprinkler valve like the one on BCVid's website??
2. I drew up a design (below), and just want to make sure its right..If you cant make some of it out..Here's an explanation..The 2" T is dremelled out so that the barrel can slide all the way through it.. then a 1" hole is drilled in the barrel section in the "T" fitting.
3. Can I take the sprinkler valve out and in?? I only want to know because I am putting one on my other gun, but won't be shooting them at the same time..and I don't want to drop an extra $25 on another valve..I should be able to take it in and out because it is just screwed on correct??
Thanks for all the information guys (and girls)

Yes, you can take it in and out. It has threads so you can thread it on to a threaded male adaptor. Don't forget to put Teflon tape on the male adaptor.

Yay, K thanks a lot origin unknown. Just saved me an extra $25
anyone else know about my other questions?
anyone..21 views..and no opinions??
update on questions
So does the pressurized air suck out a ball...and then another "burst" of air pushes it out?? If that doesn't make sense, what I mean is... It TECHNICALLY all doesn't happen at once.. It takes a stream of air to shoot the balls?

why does the air only travel in one direction at the T? shouldn't it travel in both direction pushing the golf balls back.

Doesn't make much sense to me... why not just scale up the cloud design?

From_Hamsterdam- it doesnt need to push them back, it needs to suck them in.
DR, seeing as you built this gun..Can you help me?
Jakssmirkingrevenge- You mean just build a huge cloud golf gun? Wouldn't that take a lot of air, just to push the balls to the barrel?
Or what do you mean?

I meant something like this (the green bit is a solenoid valve - excuse the crappy drawing, I'm at work at the mo)

OOOh I see... I was thinking like you meant a cloud golf gun where the barrel was at the top...... Oooh okay I might use that design then..thanks.. Haha don't worry about the drawing...It got the point across thanks...Have you ever built one? Just wondering.
hmm, i wonder if this would work, or if all the balls would clog the outlet?
You would have to apply some BBMG principals here, like the cloud chamber to get it to work properly, but the next problem is air flow.
You cant make a auto this way im afraid!

I did build one like this (for BBs, not for golfballs) and it worked greatilovetoblowthingsup wrote:Have you ever built one? Just wondering.

I am no mathematics or physics expert but that what i think would happen when you are going to use just a short burst of air over a prolonged jet from a compressor.
Build it and see i guess, but do it cheap just in case im right...
your onto something, dont let my pessimism get you down

k well jackssmirkingrevenge...I think what I'll do is i'll try your design and I'll try DR's...DOes anyone have any input whatsoever on my original design???? If the air flow is wrong, just correct me..that's what I'm mainly trying to confirm...How the airflow works....

As far as I can tell, in your original design the GBs will be blown backwards and the air will flow out of the barrel - unless the air flows past them until it reaches the back of the magazine then flows out through the barrel, but while all this is happening it seems to me you're just wasting a lot of air.
