Sorry in advance for the "noobish" question, but this is for a bet I made with a friend and really need some help. I'm sure you all have been in the same position.
My friend bet me I couldn't make a potato gun out of spare parts around my house. I found some 2.5" pipe left over from a tennis ball barrel, and have found the right fittings etc. to make a coaxial. Except, of course, for the piston. I've been trying everything that I can get my hands on, but nothing fits quite right in the pipe.
So: Anyone ever made a coaxial with a 2.5" chamber? What could I use for my piston?
Thanks
2.5" piston

do pop cans fit, fill them with like hot glue, or you could try wax from candles

well, If you're looking to make a cannon out of stuff around your house, some small diameter pvc, a 2-liter or 20-24 oz coke bottle, and some hairspray. then poke a hole in the side, and stick a match in. ghetto, but it's been done dozens of times.
I would stick with the coaxial, it's better in every way.
like homedepotpro said, make one out of hot glue.
a 2 inch endcap might fit well, too. or a .5 inch endcap. the 2 inch is more likely, though.

If you have to run to the hardware store, doesnt that mean you loose the bet?jssizzle wrote:Thanks for the suggestions. I was gonna go run to the hardware store to get some hot glue so I'll probably go with that.

you could use epoxy, but you wold have to lube the hell out of the mold.
you could maybe use a baseball bat (probably not worth it in terms of cost) and wrap it in duct tape.
anything thats round and fits.

Cut a tennisball in half, flip the halves around and bolt them together, the inside of the tennis ball should seal against the barrel.
