It is said that curiosity killed the cat, but I'm still going strong.

Anyways, assuming that you had a near leak-proof piston, instead of an equalization hole, you could use a one way valve so that if you filled from the pilot area, you would have an extremely efficient piston valve.

Many people have talked about this. Some put the rubber over the equalization hole so it acts like a check valve. I thought (and probably others) about putting a presta valve inside which is a check valve.

I believe that Gort installs a check valve in his barrel sealers, or at least in one of his valves. As I recall him mentioning it in one of our chats over AIM.

I've incorporated this into some of my mini coaxial designs, like this.

Hahah nice pimp..That was a little secret of gorts,or so I was told.

A simple one way valve could be built into a piston easily, like Keep_it_real said.A piece of thin rubber material that only allows air to flow one way.

As for a super efficient piston.Weight is also very important and the weight of a check valve could decrease it's efficiency. That's only if you were over the top about efficiency and weight dwell time etc etc
