SO I play paintball quite a bit. Soe friends an dI just go to a wooded area and play. I decided that your run-of-the-mill BDU's don't really offer that much camoflauge. So I'm going to convert them to a ghillie suit. Anyone have any experience with this?

Those are the instructions I used.
I made one and it took about 24 hours of work. I'm not at home right now but when I am I'll post a picture.
It turned out really well. If your playing paintball and you like to crawl, don't put stuff on the front. You will get extremely pissed off (personal experience). Use shoe goo, don't sew on the netting with floss.

OK, does the glue stuff hold very well? And I tend not to crawl too much. I like to find a place and just chill there. I'm going to cover the whole thing because I never know just how I'll be sitting. I'm going to do the whole schmear though, rifle rag, hood to cover my mask, everything.

All you have to do is have someone else divert the enemys attention and if you are not moving then it is all the more easy. The human eye is very good at detecting motion and if you are still in a ghillie suit, even one of homebult level you should be fine.

The glue holds surprisingly well. Not a single glob has popped off. I was playing paintball with it and the other people said my gun and mask gave it away but the ghillie suit worked really well.

Well I'm pretty good at staying still, lol. It's just that the BDU's that the local places sell don't match the environment very well. And I'm not playing with pros here, just some friends. I remember once that me and a guy got within 10 feet of each other and didn't know it. Until he stood up and made a break for some better cover. I shot him in the butt from like 5 feet. But yea, now that there's more foliage blooming I want to be able to blend in better.
EDIT: Yea, the ghillie I'll spend some time on, but I'm paying special attention to the hood and rifle rag. I just got a new mask that has a visor so that'll help, but I really need to concentrate on the rifle rag. My gun is a Spyder TL-R and the whole thing is polished aluminum.

Hahahaha, you rock. I could actually fool them by putting on some brightly colored spandex. There's a lot of bike trails around where we play. We have to call out when they come by so the others don't shoot at them. We enjoy waiting till they get real close, then moving so they can see us all of a sudden while we call hold your fire. Scares the crap out of some of them. But yea, that'd ruin the fun.
I'm trying to figure out how to make a good cover for my gun. I've seen some that just break up the form of the gun but I need a full cover cause it's polished aluminum. But I also need to make sure it doesn't interfere with loading, or interfere with my bolt. My Spyder has a top bolt configuration.

I've decided that I'll focus on the rifle rag first. For the top and bottoms I'll just use prefab neting, but for the rifle rag and mask cover I've decided that I'm going to use some twine I've got in my garage and I'll form my own net. THat way I can make it fit the countours of the gun and mask properly. Thiss will be more time consuming, but I believe it will yield a better result.

Well whenever I get the rifle rag and mask cover done I'll post pics of them up. It'll prolly be a few days though seeing as I'm gonna make all the netting myself.

For your rifle rag, use some OD mesh uder the ghillie netting to help hide your gun even better.

Mesh is very very fine netting used to keep bugs out of your porch and stuff like that. Try to find some in Olive drab color. Since your gun is very brightly polished, this might dull it up a bit to help camoflauge it.
