Here's a design that my friend and I have been working on designing for the last few days and wanted to throw it out to the experts for some feedback. Quad 3" x 36" Tanks each having its own valve. Air supply is fed through flexable hose to the barrel. Barrel is able to recoil back and is brought forward via 4 springs. Barrel is planned to be either 2" or 2.5" interchangable - length currently undecided.

i think theres more then one tank because if there's 4 triggers then they can fire and just reload and fire again 4 times without having to fill the tanks, thats a good idea, i might have to try it :D also what kind of valves would u use on the tanks??

I like the idea of using a piston style valve, though might go with sprinker valves for the first run of the thing. Of course as two crazy engineers goof off at work plans just keep getting bigger and bigger. Monday's plans included computerized remote firing and a mobile firing platform. We are software guys after all so we had to throw some mhz in with the psi.

I'm beginning to wonder if we would get more power from fewer tanks and higher flowing valves (the obvious answer is 'DUH') but for the moment I like the look and unquieness of the quad tank. Just need to ensure that the flow is good when it hits the barrel.

you should try to use an auto loading design so you dont have to muzzle/breach load after every shot, my thoughts are, if you have to reload after each shot why not refill after each shot?

really nice idea though, i'd like to see that with 4" chambers and a 2.5" tennis ball barrel

That was the general size specs for the tank/barrel actually. And the auto load plan was in the works for desgin 1.x somewhere after we got the punmatics running. [/quote]

Barracuda you should use my idea since spudshot was talkin bout a breach load guns i have plans for a semi-automatic breach loading plans. One thing about them is pictures and explantion on how it work are in two different forums they are "Shotgun style loading Cannon" and "Shotgun style loading Cannon Part:2". Check it out it might work very well on your gun. Look at the second idea first one is unsucessful.

i would definatlyl make a loading system or clip or something, because what is the point of having the chambers to shoot fast , if your barrel can't keep up.

You could mount a magazine on the barrel with three tennis balls of whatever you are shooting. The fourt tennis ball needs to be in the barrel already. When the gun shoort, the tennis ball flies out. Due to the recoil, the barrel moves backwards, so a hole in the baller gets lined up with the magazine, reloading the barrel with a other tennis ball. You should be able to shoot four times realy fast that way.
