Yeah riding lawnmowers have govenors that prevent you from going too fast. Thats part of what people do when then race lawnmowers. I think that it would be really hard to do without welding. I don't think you get get by it without making a decent frame out of metal and then covering it wood and stuff.
EDIT wait a second are you planning to be able to take this off and still use this tractor to mow your lawn? Cause if you are I would say forget the whole project right now.

Yea, I was thinking about attending the D-Day thing, I'm just not sure what I might have going on that weekend. I'd love to though.

Jack, you made me laugh.
you should look around for an old golfkart, a lifted one with offroad tires. but thats just me. you could look into making a wood cover for your vehicle to protect it and just use that. I would, but i have a 86 jimmy 4x4 so it could take it.

Make a walking tank.
It would consist of a big frame with netting to keep you from getting hit, some handles to walk with it, and some slots in the netting to poke your guns out of and shoot at people.

For some reason an image of a motorized wheelbarrow in a paintball game just popped into my head...

Hey i was doing some looking and if you pick up some heavy duty canvas at like Cheaperthandirt.com then it could be light and fuctional. now for the speed part again yes lawn mowers have govners but you can tie a string to the throttle and yank it when ever you need to go fast I did that to mine and i can do burnouts

Yeah i got hammered by a black heart tank at Luzon at bearclaw paintball in fayetteville TN....hurt like hell!Is anyone here from around there if so you should join me in the next scenario, iwa jima!Oh yeah I forgot, www.mppgames.com wont let you use walking tanks!
Here is the tank rules
* Tanks must be mechanically sound and approved by game director (functional brakes, safe electrical systems, mechanically sound engine, etc.). Tanks must also look the part - have main gun or machine guns, or both.
* Players and tank owners are deemed solely responsible for their vehicles on and off the field.
* Each tank is to be accompanied by a designated referee.
* All tanks have a 20 foot safe area; any player breaking this safety zone will be eliminated. Accordingly, a tank must stop 20 feet from any stationary player and may never break this barrier line, and, therefore, players cannot use tanks as a means of transportation.
* No "walking tanks" are allowed; otherwise, they would to be considered a non-allowed moveable shield.
* Maximum speed for tanks is that of a walking pace.
* Tanks are never to be used at night.
* The tank's main gun velocity is 220 feet per second or less.
* Paint markers chrono speed is 260 feet per second or less; setting on semi-automatic only.
* The tank's main guns may shoot only nerf rockets (these are to be approved by game director).
* The tank may not transport people or props (violates the "20 foot safe area" regulation).
* Each tank must have a team insignia clearly identifying what side they represent during the game. These flags will act as an elimination indicator when flying upright in play, when down - eliminated.
* Tanks can only be eliminated by impact from a nerf round, satchel charge (landing on or under the vehicle), or paint grenades (will disable a tank's movement for 5 minutes, the tank may still fire).
* If a tank is eliminated, it must leave the field and await reinsertion in the same way an eliminated player would.
* As for all players, approved goggles are mandatory and must be worn when on the playing field.

Why do I try to make a relevant post?

Cool, how was Luzon?I didn't make it to that one.I went to Tarawa at PBC.They let us fudge the 20ft. rule cause of the small confines in the woods.
I'll have to see about Iwo Jima.Might see ya there.Look for the guy carrying Goat's gun or a ball valve cannon(depends on how my feet feel the second day) hanging out next to the big guy with an A-5 Hammer. My scenario team(shadow group)finally put together a demo team.Oh the destruction
He's gotten me a couple of times. But not as much as I've shot him
Back to the tank: As there are no set rules for design,I'd say go with what works.Just experiment. My thoughts generally are weld some brackets on the body and bolt the frame to them. And use plywood,it makes it alot easier to hear the nerf round impact.A speedball team built a tank at PBC and covered the thing in netting. They couldn't hear the nerf hit so they just bonus balled me 5 or 6 times(every time I shot the tank),hurts after you score 20 tank kills a day.Needless to say I wasn't so happy with them.

Did Bobbio get the best of you?He drives around the Warthog tank.Yeah i got hammered by a black heart tank at Luzon at bearclaw

That would suck if someone broke the 20 foot rule and accidentally got run over...MisterSteve124 wrote:Do you plan on still using this lawn mower to mow your lawn too??

LOL defenitly but i don't think you could make it usable for both. Your gonna need to weld on a frame and u should probably take the deck off the mower to give it ground clearance.
You could make a light weight body from 1" tubing, sheet metal, and some plexiglass. If you plan on using it to mow as well as being a tank, weld a section of tubing about 1.5" on the front and back that has two pieces of 1" tubing inside held in with pins. With multiple holes the pins would allow the mower to become wider or narrower. With 90 degree angles on the ends pointing up the body could sit on top and be removed when needed.

lol well I don't mean to put you down but I seriously doubt you'll be able to do that. Unless you don't mind mowing your lawn with a tank lol.
