Im trying to clean some stains off the pvc I just bought and was wondering, other than painting, what is the best way to make your pipe and fittings...

I use acetone... probably not the best thing as it softens the pipe for a while, but it works. It also leaves a flatter finish.

due to the fact that my newest piston cannon will not have a round back (oh, the joys of epoxy :P ), it will not be possible to attach a male/female...

I use a piece of wooden dowel inbetween my sprinkler valve and spring. When I screw my sprinkle valve on there is about 1 threads lenth of tension...
