Donating Members

Sat Sep 08, 2007 2:19 pm

I've noticed a few more donating members lately :salute:

Is there a yearly plan . or a monthly notification system in place.

No,, Alzheimer's err I mean oldtimmers isn't setting in yet. I've always been forgetful and LazY.

although I don't post much I do appreciate this site and the fine work Mr. kyle and the moderators put into it .

Er.. I don't quite understand what you mean.
Spudfiles is free, but you can donate whatever you want whenever you want, so I don't think there's any type of "yearly plan".

Although that would be an interesting way to keep non-active members down. Every year or so, you simply need to re-new your account (type your password and hit renew) And after a set amount of time, the account is deleated. (Note, this would apply to all members)

hmm that would be a good idea, perhaps the renew would come in the form of a big banner that would tell you how many days left to click renew, perhaps the account would only be put on suspension?

PC mass deletes inactive accounts every once in a while. Just people that register then leave, if I recall correctly he doesn't delete any accounts with a post count.

If an account has ever been activated (they clicked the link in their email), then it won't be deleted. This is my policy now, in the future it may change.

I delete inactive accounts, meaning accounts that were sent the verification email but no one ever activated it. This cleaning happens every few months.

In the near future (when the move to phpBB3 happens) I may start to offer a "donation plan", basically you donate X every X months, and you would get ad-free pages, custom ranks, some other special goodies, etc. I will also work out something to give mods some sort of extra "perks" for their services.

Many things will change (for the better) when the move to phpBB3 happens. As I noted before a move like that is a lot of work and planning, and I can't start much till the it gets out of beta (which should be soon!).
Yes, I am the guy that owns & operates SpudFiles (along with our extremely helpful moderators).
