is a vortex really so much better?

i dont understand the point of a vortex if your using a piston to compress the bbs. wouldnt that raise the rof and get all the bbs out of the chamber?

a piston without the vortex block would just jam the BBs assuming it wasn't airtight

because a tube full of BBs doesn't flow like a tube full of water - if you had to make an analogy, it would be like trying to push the plunger of a syringe full of water, the needle of which would be only as wide as one molecule.

The piston would compact the BBs and prevent them from being agitated. If you don't believe us, you could always try building one of each and compare them.

I agree with _Fnord. If you really think that the piston will work, build it and see. The job of the piston is t ensure that the bbs are fed into the vortex, which does the actual shooting.
