qev how to?

well i got my valve's to day. they are 1/8 wich is fine now i can hide it in the body of the gun. but i have a ? how do you fill it? i have pics below. i know you cant fill it from the chamber ( or can you?). thanks for any help i get.

Why'd you take it apart?

There are three ports on QEV's: Fill, Inlet, Exhaust.

You would connect your air chamber to the inlet and your barrel to the exhaust. The QEV get's filled and vented (piloted) from the fill port. Much like a piston valve only premade. Good luck with it!

What is a QEZ, they look less bulkey then Sprinkler Valves. Oh where can I find them. It almost looks like the gas regulator.Thanks Chuck

A qev not qez is basically a premade piston valve.You cant put a sprinkler valve on copper but you can use a qev so to the best of my knowledge thats what they are used for.Im pretty sure they open slightly faster too.

Why cant you put a sprinkler valve on copper? You just need to solder fittings on, the same as using a QEV.....

Because a sprinkler valve is plastic and you don't solder plastic.Plus i have never seen it before if it has been done i am willing to try it but copper is metal and a sprinkler valve is plastic even if it could be done it would probaly be a pain in the a$$.

Just solder a copper male npt x socket to a piece of copper and screw the sprinkler onto that. Though it's not recommened to thread a sprinkler valve with anything harder then itself i.e metal. You should really use PVC.

The main reason they don't use them on copper cannons is, most copper cannons are British, S valves are hard to get in England while QEV's are not. Also QEV's are more powerful then an S valve of the same size and they're alot cooler looking and the British QEV's are rated to 300psi.

Every single gun I've ever made has metal threaded into plastic and not one has failed yet.

It can destroy the threads, I didn't mean it will fail, it can just damage the threads. I found out the hard way with a 25mm brass nipple and sprinkler valve.

PVC you do realise I am talking about threading something with male metal threads to something with female plastic threads?
I don't mean like threading a schrader into a PVC chamber.

I shouldn't have said fail. That implied explosion. But I have threaded/unthreaded up to 1" brass into PVC multiple times with no problem. Did you forget to use tape?

You do mean threaded 1" brass MALE into a FEMALE PVC threaded socket like a sprinkler valve?

I threaded brass into a sprinkler valve multiple times with and without tape and it always takes awhile to find the sprinkler valves threads, or it trys and makes its own, with PVC it finds the threads straight away and doesn't damage them.

After multiple threading and unthreading of the brass nipple you could see obvious damage to the threads.

i got them on ebay for dirt cheep. and i just made a gun with one of them and its pig nasty( very powerful). and it seems to have more power then a 1" S valve with a .20 air soft bb lol. but its all metal so i can use it in the winter YAY.
