I just got a 3000psi HPA tank, 68 cu made by pure energy and I was wondering if anyone knew what it is regged down to? And also if I can use a C02 reg on it?

Well they use the same threads, but unless it says "rated to 3000 psi" it will destroy it.

I think the HPA tank is set to 800 psi, although I would rather not find out the hard way, so I am hoping someone knows the tank well and can tell me.

I'm pretty darn sure that paintball regs drop the pressure to 800 PSI, though you shouldn't take my word as the gospel truth.

Most of the do, but to be sure, I would personally check with Pure Energy.
As far as using a CO2 reg on HPA, most CO2 regs will work, that is if it is a high pressure regulator.

It is most likely a high pressure 850 psi reg on the tank ...Buy a cheap paintball gun reg and you can regulate the pressure down to whatever you need......Smart parts Ion regs go very cheap on ebay and can regulate the pressure 0-250psi....Are you talking about swapping the HPA reg on the tank with a CO2 reg ?..I dont know why you would consider doing this as you can get used paintball gun Co2 tanks for very cheap. Also swapping out tank regs is somewhat difficult if you dont have the proper tools as they are screwed into the tank very tight...They have to be swapped by the manufacturer or an airsmith.

No my plan was to use a C02 reg and put that on the output of the HPA tank in hopes in getting pressure to reasonable levels.

I have that same bottle, plus a 88/4500. Yeah, factory preset reg is set to 800 psi, so a CO2 reg will work fine.
