heres one for ya, basically a triggered burst disk but with the 'puncturer' getting hit by the projectile thus bursting disk and firing projectile.

Good idea but it has been done before in a similar way.
Another problem I can see is the golf ball not having enough energy or weight to push the nail down hard enough.
you would need heavy, loose ammo so it can hit it with enough force.

I think the GB can surely bang it hard enough but I can imagine that nail and piece of pvc flying out the barrel at high speed...

Its also all a bit flow restrictive isnt it?

the nail will not fly out because it will have a stopper on below the disk to stop it going out and the head of the nail wil stop it from falling into chamber.

the golf ball should hit it hard enough.

it wont be flow restrictive that much at all. the disk will be like the nuclear symbol. (Y) <---- no thats not an ass, its the nuclear symbol lol

Depends on what size barrel you're using for the golf ball. if you are using a 1.5" barrel, then most likely the ball won't be loose enough to let air from the barrel pass by the ball when dropped to allow a faster, harder hit. But if you are using a 2" barrel, you should be fine because that gives the air space to quickly escape around the ball when you drop it (make the ball fall faster).

yea but a 2" barrel will also drop muzzle velocity of my chosen golf ball ammo, a small hole in the bottom of the barrel will work fine

Isnt the loss of air due to the 2"barrel about the same as the loss of air due to your hole in the bottom?

I think the flow will be terrible, because when you puncture it the whole disk will not burst, basically your just popping a hole in the burst material and air will come rushing out of that one hole.

Elitesniper is right
although an easy solution to the problem is to put mulitple nails

yep, but thats from the inside, and he is using a broad head and aluminum from a soda bottle, broad heads are not just one point like a nail, once it punctures its more of a tear that keeps getting bigger until its the disk is gone.

i would say that is gonna work! load up a burst disk cannon to 100psi and push a nail through the disk then...
