A few questions on my new hybrid.

I am currently building a hybrid with a chamber of two 8 inch pieces of 2 inch sch 40 galvanized steel pipe.

The biggest barrel will be one inch copper.

Can i use a regular spark plug for cars or is it not strong enough.

With that chamber, will remote ignition be necessary when first testing?

How high of mixtures can i use before it gets dangerous?

Is all of this good for a hybrid?

If you see any problems PLEASE let me know.

This is definantly going to be a one of a kind cannon. :D :D :D

On the Hubbrid, I used a 12" x 2" galv steel pipe and had no problems at 10x, although I usually fired it at 6x.

A spark plug, if it is tapped into the chamber correctly, should work. If not, check out the spark plug I built for the Hubbrid. I had absolutely no problems with that one.

Sch 40 steel pipe is a pretty standard construction material for hybrids. Although I'm not sure what kind of fittings you are planning to use, it should be fairly safe for most low-mid mixes (2x up to maybe 7x). You might even be able to push further as long as you are remote firing. On that note, a regular spark plug should work fine and is plenty strong.

With Sch40 steel pipe and the cheap malleable iron fittings, I would probably not exceed 10x for remote firing and 5x for handheld use. Some people have pushed further than this without failure, but I wouldn't do so without some experience with hybrids first (and being very far away when it goes off).

Good luck with the construction.
