i was just looking through my parts bin looking for things to do... when i came over a de-solder pump, on pressing the button the top of the pump flew off (almost hitting me on its way)

i think, with some modification of course, this device has the potential to act as the whole hammer assembly in a pneumatic air rifle...

thoughts suggestions ideas?

also you may be able to tell, but if you can’t, i am a TOTAL noob

Hook a blowgun up to a barrel, remove the "trigger" so the valve stem is exposed and see what sort of performance you get ;)

You could potentially make a powerful small calibre semi-auto. Even when manually actuated with decent barrel length and pressure a blowgun is quite powerful as a main valve for small calibres, using a hammer would enhance this considerably.

sounds like a good idea, however all the blowguns which i have ever used are way to stiff to be opened by this device. also, i will probably stay away from semi\full autos.
I just dont like em...

Only one way to find out ;)

What a strange person  :D

Hammer valves have poor performance compared to exhaust valves, so unless you want a multi-shot capability it's not really worth using them.

hehehe, yeah well to each their own. But im staying away from semi's because right now i am a total newby with only basic tools, experience, etc. And i am having so many issues with leak, etc, with my coax. I dont know if right now i will be able to handle it. Also target shooting and some fun with mates in my yard is all i can probably do with out it being an issue where cops have to become involved. So not right now...

Yeah this is mearly some info about an almost complete hammer system which is inexpencive and easy to find. Im not sure if i want to add this to my next rifle or not. I will probably fix it, as i will need a desolder pump one day
