Greetings,

I'm planning to make my first propane cannon. I've seen 3 options for connecting a bernz-o-matic torch head (yes, cut off below the bend) to the rest of the fuel injection system, and was wondering which method is best and why?

1.
http://www.burntlatke.com says to thread the cut-off torch head with a 1/8" NPT die

2.
http://www.advancedspuds.com/propane.htm says a 7/16" compression to 1/4" male pipe fitting will work (see http://www.plumbingsupply.com/compress.html under "OD Comp x Mips adapter")

3.
I've seen plenty of people just using one or two small screw clamps connecting the cut-off (below the bend or not) torch head to a pressure-rated hose (those silver ones)

Also, are flared fittings necessary for any part? Or can I just use regular flare-less plumbing connections for everything?

Thanks very much,
- ScoH

(Copied and pasted from one of my posts on Spudtech.)

Personally, I like these because they only cost $8 and require no other fittings to get from propane to NPT.

I bet most of you have them at your hardware store and have never noticed them. They are usually far from where we usually venture.

i always use the way where you shove the hose over the torch head with a hose clamp.

Yes, that's what I've been looking for. Do you know what the exact name is, of that piece in the picture above? Or do you have the serial number for a store?

And what about flared fittings?

Thanks
