Hi guys,

I want to make a simple Piston valve design around the same seize as a large handgun. I want the air chamber going around the barrel (I think it's called Coaxial?) And I also would like the construction to be of brass. I would also like the barrel to be around 1/2 an Inch in diameter.

Would anyone know of any sort of tutorial that will help me achieve this? And I would like this to be the most simple design. I just want something stronger than my Ball valve air gun which fires a ball valve by hand. (no springs) And it needs to be compact. I was also looking at Brian's Pirate Pistol and that would be something I would be happy with. http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/high-po ... t6725.html

Thanks, all help is appreciated! :)

Coaxials are among the simplest pneumatic valve designs. Have a look through the showcase to get some ideas and then make some designs and share them with us so we can help them improve. I don't know of any co-ax tutorials.

The question is, what materials do you have to work with.

Judicioususe of epoxy adhesive would make it relatively easy...

I'm in Australia. The best hardware store around is called Bunnings and they have a pretty good supply of plumbing parts. They have a whole section for air compressor attachments and parts but it is virtually impossible to find connectors to attach for example a blowgun to a 3/4" brass tee. This limits my supply alot and also makes it hard to attach those brass shcrader valves. Jackssmirking, the picture you provided looks complicated, I'll probably never understand that lol.

try miter 10 they have a bigger fittings section and are quite a bit cheaper but there are less of them.

they have 1/4 to 1/4'' male fiitting in the compressor section and in the plumbing place you can get 1/4 female to 1/2'' male, then use a 3/4 female to 1/2'' female from the tee. i did it that way on my first piston valve.
also makes it hard to attach those brass shcrader valves.
epoxy them into 1/4'' fittings or buy threaded ones off eBay.

that about as easy as it gets, have a read though this should help you.

Surely there's compression fittings available? If not at Bunnings etc. then certainly on eBay... why not make something like a shortened version of copperhead prime?

I want to build my pistol from plumbing parts first but that copperhead prime looks nice. I was just showing my brother this and he asked me if I can build him a copper one. Anyone know how it works? It can be a secondary project.

It's just a QEV gun.

I figured that it was a QEV due to the valve at the back. They are simple to make aren't they?
