Judgment Arms pneumatic cannon model XM001
Specifications:
Barrel: 1.50cal 76inches
Pressure Chamber: 2”X 65” 204 in3
Valve: normally it’s a Modded 1” Sprinkler valve, but in the picture it’s not.
Muzzle velocity: 330fps
Muzzle energy with a 3oz projectile: 317ft’lb
Max range: approximately 150 yards

This was my second pneumatic cannon, the first has long since been scrapped. If it looks weird it’s because I added the fill manifold after I cut every thing else. The breach mechanism consists of a 1.5inch threaded female adaptor and a DWV threaded plug. The whole point of breach loading was to avoid the need for a ramrod, unfortunately I still need one to push the round past the “tee”. The attended use was paintball medium artillery. But do to insufficient range it’s been doomed to never see combat. But it’s still fun, it’ll easily put a 1/2” steel pipe through a drier drum, as you can see in the pictures.
About 85% of the damage done to the drier drum is from this cannon, the other 15% is from ether my Gamo Shadow, or me and my friend beating it with a fence post, dowel rod, and jumping on it.

WOAH,thats a big cannon,you have some dead space and if the chamber was 3" it would make a big difference, but still nice gun and nice damage pics.

This thing is calling out for a piston valve. You'll get wayyyy better damage and velocities with a piston valve than a crappy little sprinkler.
Otherwise great gun.

Thats a cool cannon but why did you put a female threaded adapter and not just use a threaded T?

Maybe if I get bored this summer I’ll put a piston valve on it

The reason I didn’t use a threaded tee is because I couldn’t find one, nor did I know they existed at the time

The only threaded Ts I can get are steel, brass, or 1/2" or 3/4" PVC ones. And he needed to cement the barrel and an elbow in, a threaded would require that he buy the extra parts, two male threaded pieces.
Prices of the parts he got:
1" Elbow: $0.59
1" x 1.5" x 1.5" T: $1.79
1.5" Female: $1.59
No bushings to barrel
1.5" threaded plug: $2.59

Your idea would include:
1" Street Elbow, slip x male: $1.29
1.5" x 1" Threaded plug x bushing: $3.49
1.5" threaded T: $4
1.5" Threaded plug: $2.59
1.5" Male: $1.59

Using a threaded T would be bigger, less functional, hard to use, and much more expensive.

Well since my L.A.W. is broke it had no need for the furniture (the stock and grip) so I stuck it on this gun.
With the mod I give it a new name, or model designation, I call it the model 1506A2 pneumatic howitzer. “15” is the caliber (1.5inch), “06” the year I made it (the year of our Lord 2006), “A2” is the modification (stock and the two grips). If people are wonder this is not the modification I was referring to in my “what next” thread.
You see I made a small oversight when put the A2 modification on it: this thing kicks like a mule!

barrel seems odd length to the chamber. is the c:b ratio right? mabey i'm just tierd lol.

I don’t even know the C:B ratio, so it may be. But I cut the barrel and the chamber and had it all mocked up to look nice then I remembered that I needed a fill port, so that threw every thing out of proportion. The chamber could probably be shortened but with a piston valve in its future I’ll leave it alone.

I want to take that thing to the paintball field! Excessively huge and most likely heavy but what the hey! If you planned on using it as a medium artillery for scenario games,try wrapping a nerf football in a strip of 2 in wide computer paper.Of course you'll have to muzzle load it. A slight drawback but well worth the 200yd. range.

Actually NERF footballs fit great in it, unfortunately it’s not the most efficient cannon out there, the valve doesn’t seat right and it makes a loud “brup” like an air horn when charged. I’m planning on putting a piston valve and an up-graded breach loading mechanism. Then it may see a little action.

just thinking but wouldn't it make sense to make the chamber diameter larger instead of making it longer? i guess it makes sense if thats all the materials you had. other wise nice cannon

I didn’t lengthen anything; I just added the one inch tee for the fill. I would have used a larger diameter pipe but Home-cheapo doesn’t carry any thing bigger than two inch in NSF-PW.
