Tree Cannon

Just thought I would post this.

My friend seen that myth busters video of them making a tree cannon so he tried to make one out of a 4 by 4.

Just one warning to all, as you will see in the video wood is not a very suitable building material for a cannon. I mean if you look a one of the first pictures that come up you can see a frigging crack in the wood.

Needless to say, hes an idiot, and I hope this is a good deterrent to all who ever thought of this.

what did he try to shoot with it, and tell him next time to pack his gunpowder better, there were 2 seperat explosions

I think it was just one of those air bombs that fly into the air and then blow up. I beleive he simply shoved it down to blow it up.

That didn't look safe but theres this one guy on youtube that makes mini blackpowder cannons out of thick paper and they don't explode.

Okay, here's the list of problems with this cannon he made.

#1 Improper packing of gun powder(2 explosions).

#2 Not thick enough wood(the mythbusters used a whole freakin' tree).

#3 No metal bands to support the gun.

#4 Defective wood(the crack in the 4x4)

#5 (unsure on this one) May have been soft wood instead of hard. For instance, I tried to make a piston out of redwood. That didn't work at all.

hes not really an idiot for trying to build this, if he tried holding it then he would be an idiot, at least he kept his distance from it, so i dont think someone who built something like this is an idiot as long as they dont stand next to it

but he did kinda screw up on it so he only got like one shot of, he shouldve used thicker wood or at least put some kind of support on it
