ok last night i was messing around with duck tape and i thought what if you take duck tape layer it if you dont know what i mean ill try and explain a bit more. but layer it and put it on the end of your piston... like the poor mans diaphragm i think is what its called.

gee thats a great idea good luck, hey I couldsent you some used duct tape in the mail, you could also try paper, tortillas, or human skin :idea: I have a dead guy in my basement and I can give you his skin

thats a horrible sealing face. rubber isn't hard to find you know.

hey it was just an idea. i am nt even making a gun or valve atm do to my location so i was just postng it to see what you guys think..

Yeah rubber is always better, but creative use of duct tape will always earn you points from someone. If it doesn't seal good you could always use layers of super wide electrical tape; its much smoother so it shouldn't leak as much.

If you attach the diaphragm to a small rubber disk to seal against the barrel, that would work fine. Try it out and report the findings!

Though it may not work so well, I will give you points for creative use of duct tape. kudos.

well thx.. and if i could try it out i would but i recently moved for a few months leaving all my spudding equipmeant at my other place and i dont think spudding in an apt is such a good idea.

maybe, if you had a rubber washer for sealing the center you could makethe rest if the diaphram from crappy materials, I have this .5" metal direct acting solinoed valve at the center where the solinoed attaches was a backed rubber disk, but the rest of the diaphram was this cheap stuff, I don't remember but it was like some water proof cloth, or unbuffered paper thin sheet rubber, so with a sturdy center on some goodwater proof cloth, wedged between pipe flanges, you could have a diaphram valve and the diffrence is that when refilling, the air will enter the chamber though the diaphram instead of around
