Has anyone thought of making a replica smoke grenade out of PVC, that houses a firework smoke bomb? The PVC outer shell would make the fire hazards of a smoke bomb less threatening. And to top it off it would look really cool. I was thinking of having a little flint/steel ignitor, to light the fuse, and add small holes in the bottom for venting the smoke.

Rocket propelled projectiles, pyrotechnic smoke bombs, or any other burning projectiles would qualify as an incendiary projectile.
Don't do these kind of stuff man.

Talking about a smoke bomb is fine, he's not using it as ammo. Maybe you should learn the rules, or at least read them over a few times and get something out of it.
I think it's a great idea, but a flint sparker is very hard to light anything with, other than gases.

Well, I am not sure, but you could always experiment. Most smokebombs don't burn very hot, and you could probably pull it off. Many however, do have a big priming flame when they first ignite, which could melt things. However, you can stick your hand only about 4 inches from the nozzle without getting burned, or even feeling it, so you should ok, as long as you keep it from directly aiming at the pvc wall.
EDIT: I was talking about not feeling the heat from the smoke.

You should try and do the old ping pong bal rutine inside a pvc pipe.
Put four Ping pong balls in the pvc pipe some paper (probably lightly doused in a flammable liquid) light it, and throw it. The bottom half of the pvc will melt almost certainly but it would produce smoke.
Toxic though

Poo.
Yeah, I knew it was toxic, but I never knew what it was being released. But man, it sure smells bad!!! However, I didn't consciously breath it, and I know what it smells like because my friend sprayed some with spraypaint and lit it up. YUCK.

Exactly what I was thinking, I would have a 2"x 1"or 1 1/4" bushing to hold the grenade inside a piece of pipe suspended inside the outer pipe. I am going to have a few small holes in the top to vent the smoke. And instead of a flint, or precussion cap ignition, I might just put in an electric ignition instead.Orpackrat wrote:What if you secured the firwork in the center of the grenade so the heat does not melt the pipe?

if you go for electrical ignition i have the simplest way imaginable, remove the tungsten filament for a light bulb rap the smoke bombs fuse around it and apply 9v to 12v the tungsten filament will quickly turn red hot and ignite the fuse, i used one from a big spot light the smaller ones just might incinerate but im not sure. after power is applied i say you have 3 secs max before the fuse is ignited. the fuse i used was the green black powder kind that burns with i nice big spark in case you were wondering.

The best way to light off a smoke grenade is to dismantle a party popper and take out the pull string ignitor. Then you yank the fuse out of the smoke grenade, fill the hole half way up with crushed up match heads. Finally you insert the ignitor(should be barely sticking out of the hole) and hot glue it in. Go hefty on the glue because the ignitor will pop out otherwise.Make sure you don't glue the string. You now have a pull string smoke grenade
I make these for paintball, when the field allows.
