Reversable sprinkler guide rod?

Is it possible to take the sprinkler guide rod out, drill a hole underneath the sprinkler and stick it in there so the guide rod is going through the other side of the diaphragm. this should leave the top of the sprinkler free for a blow gun attachment.

i don't see why not, unless it compromises the strenth of the valve
