air tank trouble

I am building my first ever canon and the air tank broke off when i was charging it up for the fourth launch. I don't have a job right now so money is a problem. Everytime I have tried to glue back together it instantly falls a part. Is there a way to reglue the air tank back on without having to buy any new parts?

What is your air tank made out of?

What part broke? Middle of the chamber, bushing, etc.?

It is made out of SCH 40 pvc and it broke at the reducer. The pipe did not break at all just the glue broke. I have a picture but i can't put it on my computer.

If just the glue broke, I would sand or grind it all back down to pvc and try to glue it again. (Btw, that is probably not going to be the recommended way to do it around here, just telling you how I would do it if I was broke.) Did you let the joint cure long enough?

Did you use PVC cement?

Did you use PVC cement with primer? Did you let it cure for 24hours?

Yes. I used Harvey's purple primer and Harvey's p-4 pvc cement and i let it cure for somewhere between 24 and 36 hours.

What I would do, is glue it together, and run some bolts through it.

well if your using a bell reducer and not a bushing its a dwv part meaning its meant for drainage and not for pressurized stuff. although i have used them before up to 100 psi without fail i would suggest not going past 60psi.

What is the difference between a bushing and a bell reducer?

bell reduced are mostly DWV which is not rated for pressure, and a bushing can be pressure rated.

google it and look at the images and you will see the diffrence

brushings have a mle and female side brushings have 2 female sides, make sure you glue all the stuff right or else
