It's definitely been a great training exercise as intended, and I'm proud of the result - though I think you can take at least 80% of the credit because without your advice and tutorials I wouldn't have done it so quickly.Very very good! You can be proud of the result, with this little project you've learned and succeeded in a lot of different machining process.
For someone that never used a lathe or mill before, that's quite an achievement!
